The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors hosted Scottsbluff Wednesday night and it was a night to forget for both teams.
In the juniors game Chadron was able to create contact, but the Scottsbluff defense was rock solid not allowing a hit in the five innings they played. Chadron was able to get three guys on base but they were via two walks and an error for Scottsbluff in the 14-0 loss.
Scottsbluff’s Dustion Rector pitched all five innings for Scottsbluff and threw a no hitter, while striking out three and walking two,
The Chadron juniors fall to 10-7 on the season and are scheduled to go to Sturgis on Friday for a doubleheader.
The Platte Valley Bank seniors were able to get runs in their game but another 10-run rule went the way of Scottsbluff as they won 17-5.
The first inning was relatively even with Scottsbluff holding a 3-2 lead after one. Then things went south for Chadron as they gave up a solo run in the second before allowing six to go by in the third, held Scottsbluff in check in the forth then allowed seven more in the fifth.Â
Chadron squeaked by a few in the forth and a solo run in the fifth but it was just not enough.
Chadron falls to 6-10 on the season. They are next scheduled to go to Alliance on Sunday.
