Chadron Takes Care Of Alliance

Loading

The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors hosted Alliance Wednesday night and took care of business with the juniors winning 10-2 and the seniors winning 7-6.

In the juniors game, Chadron was able to bounce back after being run ruled the night before to get their own run rule win and end a two game losing streak that included a loss to alliance back on Sunday. The first time up to bat for Chadron saw them get two runs on Alliance and never look back. Driving in at least one run every time they batted throughout the five inning game. Alliance was able to get one run in the top of the first and another in the fourth off of Kegan Nelson and Kobe Strom RBI’s.

Chadron lit up the basepaths with 12 hits on the night. While Derek Bissonette drove in two runs. Bissonette and Braden Wright each had a double while Tayven Jenkins tripled.

On the mound Tobin Meyer pitched all five innings in the win, allowing two runs on two hits with four strikeouts.

The talk before the seniors game was that it was going to be crazy and boy did it live up to the billing. Alliance took advantage of a rough outing by Chadron starting pitcher Broc Berry to sprint out to a 5-0 lead after two innings. In the bottom of the third Chadron took advantage of the Alliance pitching putting up a crooked number to take the lead 6-5. Alliance was able to tie it in the top of the fourth before the skies opened up.

After a delay of an hour or so due to thunderstorms the teams returned to the diamond. Chadron added a run in the fifth and closed out the game winning 7-6.

Berry drove in three runs while Tobin Landen added two more.

Caden Buskirk and Berry each had a double while Landen added in a triple as well.

Creighton Ryan came out of the bullpen and pitched five innings, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out five.

The juniors are now 13-9 while the seniors are hot, winning three in a row and five of their last six. They are now 9-11 this year. The juniors head up to Spearfish for a tournament this weekend while the seniors are off until July 12th.
