Chadron Takes Care Of Bridgeport

The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors played in front of their home crowd for the last time this season and took down Bridgeport by scores of 14-2 and 11-3.

The juniors started off the night dominating Brideport out of the gate, taking a 3-1 lead after the first. Bridgeport came within one run in the second inning but Chadron responded with a crooked number, putting up eight in the second to take complete control of the game. Chadron added three more in the bottom of the third to run rule walk off Bridgeport 14-2.

Brayden Linegar had three RBI’s for Chadron while Askel Lans and Jack O’Brian each drove home two. Tobin Landen had two doubles and an RBI. 

O”Brian got the win for Chadron, giving up two runs and striking out two.

To wrap up the night the seniors honored five players getting set for the last scheduled home game of their career then dominated Bridgeport for the third time this season, cleaning house on senior night 11-3. 

Neither team was able to get a run in the first inning. Chadron then exploded for five in the second and six in the third to put away the game. Bridgeport finally broke through in the top of the fourth, breaking up an ongoing no hitter by Chadron’s pitcher with a two run double. Bridgeport added one more to finish off the scoring with Chadron winning 11-3.

Kobe Bissonette had a double and three RBI’s on the night, Landen added two more RBI’s in a three hit game. 

Arteyu Thorsen went the entire way on the mound for Chadron allowing three runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Before the seniors game five players were given plaques, honoring them for their effort they have given representing Chadron Legion baseball. The five seniors were Broc Berry, Atreyu Thorsen, Kobe Bissonette, Logan Slama and Edwin Fillspipe. 

The juniors wrap up the regular season 17-10 and will now play Gothenburg on Friday as the three seed to begin the district tournament. They will play either the seven seeded Ogallala or two seeded McCook on Saturday. 

The seniors are rolling, on a four game winning streak and have won six out of their last seven, they are 10-11.
