Funeral services for 66-year old Charles “Chuck” Hamar of Crawford, NE, will be Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1:00 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron..

Charles Edwin “Chuck” Hamar was born April 14, 1955, to Oliver and Charlotte (Gallino) Hamar in Valentine, NE. He passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in Englewood, Colo.

Charles was raised in Chadron and graduated from Chadron High School in 1974. He joined the army and was honorably discharged. He would then attend tech school  in Lincoln, NE, for a year.

Charles was united in marriage to Valorie Jean Otto on June 19, 1976, Of this marriage came three children: Amanda, Katie, and Derek.

Charles and Valorie moved to Wahoo, NE, where he was employed at Darling International for 43 years, retiring in 2020. Charles moved back home to Crawford as a single man and resided there until his death.

Charles volunteered a big portion of his time at the Food Pantry in Crawford, helping others. He would also ride around town and spend a lot of his time with his best friend Ronnie Thompson.

Charles enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, family gatherings at the homes of his sisters and nieces, football games, watching WWE and old westerns, driving his truck, and telling stories to his grandbabies about his childhood.

He is survived by his children, Amanda Sowards (Nick Rogers), Katie Hamar, and Derek (Kayla) Hamar; grandchildren, Isaiah, Bentley, Peyton Oppelt, Isabella and Jacob Hamar, Harmony Lee; siblings, Judy (Mitch) Wright, Rhonda (Ed-Deceased) Smallwood, Teddy Hamar, Vera Holden, Rigena (Cecil) Roberts, and Vinell (Dale) Peterson, best friend Ronnie (Marcy) Thompson, many nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Charlotte Hamar; brother Dwight Hamar; and  stepmother, Tillie Hamar.
