Private memorial services for 82-year old Charlotte Gibbons will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Stillwater Hospice in her name.
Charlotte Marlene (Strain) Gibbons was born on July 28, 1940 in Rapid City, SD to Everett Hugh Strain and Florence Pearl (Leach) Strain. Charlotte made her journey to the Spirit World on October 31, 2022 at her home in White Horse Creek, SD.
Throughout her life, Charlotte had numerous jobs that she loved. She was a mother, housewife, Successful Rancher, and Super Sub at Rockyford and Wolf Creek Schools.
Charlotte was a firm believer in her independence and saw to it that she was not an inconvenience to anyone. She welcomed foster children into her home at any time, had a heart of gold, and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Charlotte was well known to call billing services to remind them that she had not received her bill yet. (Who does that?) She was known to never shirk her duties. And if you caught heck from Charlotte, you probably deserved it. She enjoyed the simple things in life and was thankful for them.
We are grateful to her many caretakers.
She is survived by her children Deborah (Terry) Porter, David (Lisa DeLeon) Gibbons, Violet Gibbons, Glen (Sonia Garrett) Gibbons, Christopher Gibbons, Ruth Steele, and Michelle Twiss; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; siblings Roy Strain of Japan, Ray Strain of Custer, SD, Barbara Strain of Rapid City, SD and Jimmy Jurrens of Alaska; and her favorite pal “Boots”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Gibbons; father Everett Hugh Strain; mother Florence Pearl (Leach) Strain; brother Roger Strain; 2 children in infancy; and sisters-in-law Delores Strain and Annette Strain.
