Chester “Chet” Charles Standing Bear was born on March 18, 1944 in Alliance, NE to Edgar Standing Bear and Vivian Dubray-Standing Bear. Chester made his journey to the Spirit World on February 5, 2025 at the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.
Chet is survived by his children, Harriet Wilson(John), Charlie Standing Bear, Myron Dillon, Ned “Cheezer” Standing Bear, Michelle Standing Bear, Emmaline Tallman, Charlotte Tallman, Tally Standing Bear; families of the late, Gene Standing Bear, Edsel Standing Bear, Bertha Dillon, Sarah Thunder Hawk, Victoria Standing Bear-Lone Hill, Edna Standing Bear, Charlotte Standing Bear; aunts & uncles, Eugene Dubray, George Dubray, Cleveland Dubray, Sr., Mollie Dubray, Charles Dubray, Jr., Cynthia Dubray-Mart, Louise Dubray-Zimiga; and 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Chet was preceded in death by his mother & father, Edgar Standing Bear and Vivian Dubray-Standing Bear; brothers & sisters, Gene Standing Bear, Edsel Standing Bear, Sarah Thunder Hawk, Victoria Standing Bear-Lone Hill, Edna Standing Bear, and Charlotte Standing Bear-Merchen; and niece, Clover Standing Bear.
Pallbearers will be Bret Fly, Shaun Garnette, Justin “JW” Bear Killer, Mitchell Dubray, Garrett Stilwell, Mahpiya Catches Enemy, Matt Merchen, John “JJ” Wilson, Jacob Standing Bear, and Vincent Dubray.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2025 at the American Horse School Gymnasium in Allen, SD with evening services being held at 5:00 PM with Military Roll Call to follow.
