An unusual free event combining exercise and Mexican food takes place late this afternoon on the west side of Crawford – the Cinco de Mayo Taco Ride and Walk.
Participants will walk or bike a 6-mile round trip from the Crawford City Park to Fort Robinson and back.
A joint effort between the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association and the Friends of the White River Trail, the Taco Ride and Walk starts at 5:00 but participants can begin any time over the following hour or so.
Once a walker, runner, or bicyclist finishes, they can head down to the Tailgate Bar and Grill in downtown Crawford for a free dinner fiesta.
Trails Association President Dr Britt Helmbrecht says the entire idea is to encourage families and individuals to come out, have fun, and eat well while getting a first-hand look at all the White River Trail has to offer.
