Position Overview:
The County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO) serves as the primary point of contact for veterans and their families seeking assistance with accessing federal, state, and local benefits and resources. This vital role involves providing guidance, support, and advocacy to ensure that veterans receive the benefits and services they have earned through their honorable service to our country.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterans and their families in understanding and applying for VA benefits, including compensation, pensions, healthcare, education, and housing assistance.
Provide information and referrals to other agencies and organizations offering services for veterans, such as employment assistance, mental health counseling, and disability support.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of veteran cases and interactions.
Stay updated on changes in legislation, policies, and programs related to veterans’ benefits and services.
Collaborate with community partners, government agencies, and veterans’ organizations to enhance support for veterans and their families.
Qualifications:
Honorably discharged veteran.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of veterans’ benefits programs and resources.
Ability to navigate and interpret complex regulations and policies.
Proficient in computer applications and record keeping.
Commitment to serving veterans with respect, compassion, and integrity.
