NOTICE TO VOTERS:
The Primary Election is fast approaching! The date for the Primary Election is May 14, 2024. The new Voter ID Law will be effective with the Primary Election. With the new Voter ID Law every registered voter will need to provide photo ID with their return ballots. Documents that may be used for Voter ID verification include the following:

Passports
UNACCEPTABLE VOTER ID DOCUMENTS:
Out-of-State Driver’s License
Out-of-State Student IDs
Medicare/Medicaid Cards
Social Security Cards
Birth Certificates
Utility Bills/Bank Statements
Voter Registration acknowledgment cards
The Clerk’s Office has pamphlets available that go over the new Voter ID bill. Any ID expired will still be accepted as long as it has the individuals name and picture.
Agents for Individuals: Agents are still able to pick up ballots for parents, children, etc. but they will be required to present ID of the individual(s) they are picking ballot(s) up for. An Agent may pick up ballots for two (2) individuals.
All Driver’s License issued by the State of Nebraska and used as ID for voting purposes will be validated through this office. Additionally, all signatures will be verified.
UOCAVA Voters: No Requirement to provide ID to vote.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION:
January 05, 24 Candidate filings begin. Incumbent deadline is February 15, 24. Non-Incumbent Deadline is March 01, 2024.
January 15, 24 Date to start accepting early voting requests for those individuals who won’t be In the area during the Primary Election.
April 29, 24 Last date to register to vote to vote through DMV or online at www.ne.gov/go/NEreg2vote
May 03, 24 Last date to register to vote at the Clerk’s Office for the Primary Election. The Clerk’s Office will remain open until 6:00 PM MST on this date.
April 16, 24 Ballots for the Primary Election will be mailed out. Dawes County is all-mail! Make sure your mailing address is current!
May 14, 24 Presidential Primary Election! Study your candidates and be ready to VOTE!
