A grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office covered much of the overtime costs related to putting more troopers on the road
During the 3-week effort that ended Sunday, troopers also issued 1,587 citations for speeding – including 65 for speeds in excess of 100 mph.
There were also 109 tickets for driving under suspension, 79 for no seatbelt, 34 for open containers of alcohol, 28 for MIP, and 24 for improper child restraint. Troopers performed 870 motorist assists during Click it or Ticket.
The campaign marked the informal start of the summer travel season and State Patrol Superintendent Colonel John Bolduc says Nebraska roadways had a busy start to summer.”
Colonel Bolduc says safe travel is a key to making great memories on your summer road trips, so “no matter where the road takes you this summer, wear your seat belt, always drive sober, put your phone down, and have a safe trip.”
The Patrol will be participating in several localized campaigns throughout the summer to promote safe travel in communities across the entire state.
