If you’re paying attention to Nebraska’s search for a new football coach, two prominent names were crossed off the potential candidate list on Tuesday night when Kansas head coach Lance Leipold and Washington’s Kalen DeBoer signed extensions at the current schools.

Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph spoke to the media on Tuesday and says he believes he will talk with athletic director Trev Alberts as early as this weekend about the coaching vacancy.

Joseph says the most memorable aspect of being the interim head coach the past two months has been the kids and coming back to Lincoln.

When asked what he will do after Friday’s game against Iowa Joseph said, “ I’ll sit on my couch and wait for a phone call.”
