Colleen Harvey born on December 20th, 1946, in Rushville, NE to Russell DeWitt and Ghita Ostrand DeWitt, she was the 6th DeWitt daughter and 7th of 8 DeWitt child to be born. These

family relationships were a source of great joy for her as they gathered frequently throughout the years in many different locations to enjoy each otherโ€™s company. These continued throughout her life from family reunions that often had over 100 participants, to Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners at one of her siblingโ€™s homes.

She loved growing up in Rushville, NE and participated in many activities in Rushville and

the surrounding communities. It was at one of those activities, the Miss Chadron pageant, where she met Robert Harvey. They married on December 27, 1969, and were blessed with 54 years of marriage. It was with great joy that they adopted and welcomed their sons Jared and Justin into their family. Following Jared and Justin around to many different school and sporting events was a source of great joy for Colleen. They continued to bring her joy by excelling in their careers and bringing

wonderful grandchildren into their family.

Throughout her life Colleen loved to travel. Prior to having children, she and Rob took

many trips to various locations, such as Chile, Venezuela, England, and Switzerland. Later in life Rob and Colleen enjoyed spending part of the winters in Florida to be near Justin and his family. While in Florida, she loved having friends and family visit. She was very fond of taking walks on the beach the sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico. Education was a passion for Colleen. She received her masterโ€™s degree from Chadron State College. She was an educator in Batesland and Hay Springs Public Schools, before moving to Chadron and working at Chadron Public Schools where she worked for 40 years. She was loved universally by her fellow colleagues and students which

was proven by her friendships with both until the time of her passing.

Colleen loved and followed Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was a dedicated member of

First Baptist Church where she served in many different roles such as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader, Wednesday Night Kidโ€™s teacher, prayer warrior and many other ways.

We are comforted by the fact that she is now in the presence of Christ and no longer suffering from the ailments that afflicted her during the last years of her life.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Rob, sons Jared and Justin, and 9 grandchildren.

Her sisters Judy Dorsey, Sally Hatch, and brother Dick DeWitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ghita DeWitt, step-mother Theresa, her brother Chuck, sisters Sarah Weidner, Marlene Dykes, and Ellie Vendetti.
