      Although Chadron has already had some holiday events already, tonight is in a real sense the kickoff of its Christmas celebration with the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree downtown, the Parade of Lights, and the Festival of Trees Open House at the Dawes County Courthouse.
     Chadron Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Michna, who will co-host our parade coverage with Jeremy Anderson on FM 107.7 KBPY, says the fun and celebration at the Downtown Plaza actually begins an hour before the Tree Lighting.

The tree is from the Nebraska National Forest and Michna says it could be considered a distant cousin of the tree from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Michna says the tree is truly a community project, starting with NPPD taking the lead role in installing it earlier this week and with a local organization making new decorations
The Pet Parade is scheduled between the Community Christmas Tree Lighting and the Parade of Lights, which is sponsored by Platte Valley Bank, Your Selling Team, and Technologent.
      We ask that all the floats and units in the Parade of Lights line up at the northeast corner of 1st and Main at 6:00.
The Courthouse Open House runs from 6-7:00. Courthouse employees traditionally have home-made cookies and other treats for those who come to view the themed-trees decorated by businesses and organizations,
