A big second half lifted the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys over the Sioux County Warriors Friday.
The Cowboys trailed 8-0 at half-time after Sioux County’s Cy Hughson rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter to give the Warriors the lead at the break. The Cowboys shut out the Warriors in the second half, however, scoring 20 points in the third quarter and tacking on another 16 in the final 10 minutes for the 36-8 victory.
Hughson completed nine of his 21 passes for 96 yards for Sioux County and carried the ball 10 times for 38 yards. Jack Hunter rushed for 14 yards on six carries. Hughson also was in on 15 tackles, as was William Skavdahl. Jadon Skavdahl had 14 tackles, while Hunter and Shane Gluth each had eight.
Cody-Kilgore also handed Sioux County a defeat on the volleyball court. The Cowgirls swept the Warriors 25-12, 25-18, 25-15. The night before, the Warriors lost to Edgemont in four sets. Sioux County picked up the opening set 25-20, but dropped the next three 21-25, 2025, 15-25. Stats for volleyball were not available.
