Crawford 4th Of July, OWT Rodeo Celebration Underway

The Crawford 4th of July celebration is in full swing with family friendly activities stretching through Sunday.

Already running is the sidewalk chalk art contest and the 47th Western Wildlife Art Show out at the Fort Robinson Veterinary Barn. You must have a state park permit to attend the art show.

The White River 5k run/walk starts the day on Saturday with registration from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Post Playhouse.

The main attraction is the the Old West Trail PRCA Rodeo performances, which are celebrating their 75th anniversary. Longtime rodeo board member and now volunteer Jody Bass says the rodeo was started in an effort to help build a hospital in Crawford

Bass says that this weekend’s rodeos are the only PRCA sanctioned events in the state over the Independence Day holiday.

You can catch rodeo performances on both Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 pm with fireworks to follow the action on Sunday.

The annual Crawford 4th of July chamber parade will kick off at 10:00 am on Sunday morning and can be heard on AM 610 KCSR and Chadrad.com.
