Crawford, Hay Springs, Sioux County Qualify 14 for State Track

Student athletes from across the panhandle ventured down to Bayard Wednesday for the Class D-9 District Track and Field meet. It was a great day for Crawford, Hay Springs and Sioux County as the schools combined will have 14 different student athletes at Burke Stadium. 

Starting off with Crawford as the Rams will have seven making the journey. 

Senior Keslyn Vogel is a four time qualifier as she qualified via a district title in the 300 meter hurdles with a school record time of 47.24, a second in long jump and was apart of the 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams that qualified. Peyton Osmotherly will be participating in high jump along with the 4×400 and 4×800 relay. Kember Mittan will be on those relay teams along with making in the 3200 meter race with a second place finish. Ty Crouse will be running in both the boys 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Taylor Homan will be running in the 800 at state while Kylee Osmotherly was a part of the 4×800 meter relay team. Freshman Leah Holmgren will participate in the state meet after winning the district title in triple jump and will be apart of the 4×400 relay team.

The Crawford girls 4×400 and 4×800 qualifying teams are Keslyn Vogel, Peyton Osmotherly, Kember Mittan and Leah Holmgren in the 4×400 and Kylee Osmotherly, Peyton Osmotherly, Kember Mittan and Keslyn Vogel in the 4×800.

Hay Springs will see senior Parker Wellnitz in three events as he was a district champion in the 800, 1600 and a part of the 4×800 relay team. Arian Mata clinched the district title in the 1600 along with being a part of the 4×800 team. Easton Mintken and Mason Albrecht rounded out the 4×800 relay team that took the district title. 

Reesr Varvel will be running for a state title in the 400 while Alaina Raymer qualified with a second place finish in the triple jump.  

Sioux County is state bound with Victoria Turbiville taking the district title in shot put while qualifying with a second place finish in discus.

The Class D State Track and Field Meet will be held at Burke Stadium in Omaha between Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd.
