Crews Tackle Fires Near Crawford, Ardmore

Federal and local resources jumped on the “Double Fire” just four miles southwest of Crawford around 12:30 on Friday afternoon.

The lightning caused fire was held to a tenth of an acre and was contained by 4:35 pm on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile in southern Fall River County South Dakota the “Duck Creek Fire” broke out approximately eight miles northeast of Ardmore just before 1:00 pm on Friday.

Federal and local crews responded to the blaze and contained it at a tenth of a mile.

The cause of the fire is listed as equipment.

Heavy rains moved through the region on Friday evening and should provide relief to dry conditions that have been developing since the middle of June.
