February is Black History Month and Chadron State College is holding a special free event Tuesday, Feb 27, over the noon hour to help celebrate the month.
The Black Excellence Expo runs from 11 -12:30 in the Student Center Ballroom.
Speakers headlined by Chadron State President Dr Ron Patterson, the school’s first Black president, will cover topics that include the arts, athletics, business, civil rights, education, and government.
Other faculty presenters in addition to President Patterson include CSC Associate Professors Dr Janet Anthony from Education and Julian Berrian of Communication Arts.
Student speakers include 3 international students – Ruhama Molla and Lidiya Dinku of Ethiopia and Emmanuella Tchona of Benin – as well as Amber Harvey, Sophia Oladimeji, Porter Anderson, Aiyana Fujiyama, and Julio Phipps.
The Black Excellence Expo is co-sponsored by the CSC International Club, Sigma Tau Delta, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
