Chadron State College head football coach Jay Long announced the addition of three new football coaches and other changes to the team’s coaching staff on Tuesday.

As a player or assistant for Long since 2009, Bryar Desanti is leaving CSC to be the offensive coordinator at Bethany College.

“I am so proud of Coach DeSanti,” Long said. “I recruited him in 2009 and since then I have either coached him as a player or coached with him as my assistant coach. I can’t be more proud that he has found a new opportunity to call plays as an offensive coordinator. I am very excited to watch him in his next phase of his coaching career.”

A familiar name is replacing Desanti. Tommy Wilson returns to Chadron State after spending the previous season as an assistant coach at Montana State University. Wilson served as a coaching assistant for CSC from 2021-22.

In his full-time role, Wilson focus on coaching the quarterbacks.

“We’re excited to welcome Coach Wilson back into our program as our quarterback’s coach,” Long said. “His dedication, work ethic, and energy are exactly what we need in our quarterback room.”

Wilson takes over the quarterback coaching duties from offensive coordinator Micah Smith, who will now oversee the wide receivers.

“After meeting with Coach Smith, we have decided that it would be beneficial for our offense if we move Coach Smith to the wide receivers coach and have Coach Wilson concentrate solely on quarterback development,” Long said.

Joining the team as coaching assistants are Steve Chang and Logan Zacharias.

Chang spent the previous three seasons as a coaching assistant for cornerbacks at Pasadena City College in California, while Zacharias was a starter on the offensive line at Upper Iowa the previous three seasons.

Zacharias will coach running backs as his position group. Chang will coach defensive backs.
