The Chadron State College golf team finished sixth in the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, after two rounds of golf on Tuesday in Pueblo, Colorado. The Eagles fired 320-328-648 at Pueblo Country Club, led by an eighth-place tie by junior Brooke Kramer (75-82-157) in her return from injury.

“We had a decent day in the wind,” said CSC Head Golf Coach John Ritzen, “but I thought we could have played better. We’re excited to get to work this off-season. Each golfer knows what she needs to work on, and we’re excited to make those improvements for the spring.”

Despite the conditions, Kramer managed a birdie and eight holes at even pars on Tuesday. She finished the tournament with the event’s second-best five birdies. Her 75 on Monday matched the lowest single-round score of the season for CSC.

Junior Kinsey Smith was right behind Kramer with four birdies, and a card showing 82-78-160. She tied for 14th, and was one of the few players to improve her score on Tuesday.

Only two teams at the tournament added fewer strokes on Tuesday than the Eagles.

Finishing first with scores of 299-306-605 was host CSU-Pueblo. The ThunderWolves’ Zoey Rodriguez was first individually as well, shooting 71-75-146.

Chadron State is done with its fall schedule, and will return to competition in March.
