Chadron State men’s basketball was selected to finish fifth in the 2023-24 RMAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll announced on Wednesday.
The poll is determined by a vote of the leagues head coaches.
The Eagles finished fifth at the end of last season with a record of 19-10 and 16-6 in conference play.
CSC returns four mainstays and two more letterwinners from last season, when they advanced to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference playoffs for the second time in three years, but also just the second time since 2011. This year’s team added 10 transfers.
Colorado Mesa was picked as the conference favorites with eight first-place votes.
Fort Lewis, Colorado School of Mines and Black Hills State all finished about the Eagles in the standings. Fort Lewis received four first-place votes and Colorado Mines, who defeated CSC in the RMAC playoffs last season, received three.
After Chadron State in fifth, the remainder of the top eight is rounded out by MSU-Denver, UCCS and Regis.
CSC begins regular season play on Friday, November 10, at 7 p.m. in the Chicoine Center.
