CSC Opening Production Of “Crimes Of The Heart”

The Chadron State College production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy-drama Crimes of the Heart opens its 6-performance run tonight in the Black Box Theater on the second floor of Memorial Hall.

Continuing a schedule initiated last fall, the play has 4 performances this weekend and 2 next weekend. Curtain time is 7:00 tonight through Saturday, 2:00 Sunday afternoon, and 7:00 next Friday and Saturday.

CSC Interim Director of Theatrical Performances David Craven says the play by Beth Henley tells the story of 3 sisters who reunite at their grandfather’s home after the middle sister shoots her abusive husband.

Craven says the sisters were raised in a dysfunctional family in Mississippi in the mid-20th century, setting up a story of self-discovery as they try to escape the expectations of others and figure out who they really are.

Seating in the Black Box Theater is limited, so Craven recommends getting tickets in advance to guarantee a seat. Tickets are free and can be reserved online at csc.edu/theatre.
