Chadron State, Peru State, and Wayne State Colleges have shown their worth towards Nebraskaโ€™s economy, workforce, and the communities they serve. An economic impact study conducted by Lightcast reveals that the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) contributed $1.4 billion to Nebraskaโ€™s economy during the fiscal year 2022-23โ€”equivalent to nearly 1% of the stateโ€™s total gross state product (GSP).

This impact translates to 18,890 jobs supported across Nebraska, accounting for 1 in every 75 jobs in the state. โ€œThese findings underscore the vital contributions Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges make,โ€ said Dr. Paul Turman, Chancellor of the NSCS.

The study also gave positive feedback to students looking for a return on investment. For every $1 invested in Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges, Nebraskans see a ten-to-one return, reinforcing the value of higher education for the state.

The report highlights more than financial returns. Social benefits include enhanced public health outcomes, improved business productivity, and increased civic engagement.

โ€œBehind every statistic are real peopleโ€”students, alumni, and workersโ€”who are helping Nebraska thrive,โ€ Chancellor Turman concluded.
