The lead up to Chadron State football’s season opener against rival University of Nebraska-Kearney has been clouded after safety Jason Pugal suffered a serious injury during a practice this past Saturday.
According to the family’s GoFundMe page, Pugal suffered “a severe neck injury, facturing his neck and compressing his C6 vertebra.”
The page says that Pugal has already undergone spinal fusion surgery and will soon begin an intensive rehabilitation program.
The family through their GoFundMe page is hoping to raise $35,000 which according to Dave Collins is what they have been told will be the cost to get Pugal back to his home state of California.
As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, over $30,000 has been raised.
