      Chadron State College officials have decided that the campus will remain closed for a third straight day on Thursday because of this week’s massive winter storm and blizzard.
Director of College Relations Alex Helmbrecht says the safety of students and staff who would be driving to campus was the prime consideration in the decision.
Making the choice easier was the fact that this is Finals Week at the college and the decision had been made on Monday that all testing would be done remotely or online with no in-person tests.
The residence halls and Dining Services remain open for students still on campus with the evening meal ending at 6:00, but Helmbrecht says the Eagle Market is closed today.
Chadron State’s Winter Commencement is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 in the Chicoine Center and Helmbrecht says that those plans remain in effect – at least for now with street and highway conditions on Friday obviously unknown at this time.
