The short-handed Chadron State College women’s basketball team forfeited Saturday night’s game at Adams State midway through the 3rd quarter.

At the time, the Eagles trailed 63-22 and had just 6 players left because of illness, injury, and starter Liberty Line fouling out.

CSC head coach Travis Brewster said after the game that he has to “look at all factors with us, including player safety” – especially on the team’s longest road trip of the year.

Leading scorer and rebounder Shay Powers was out with a wrist injury suffered Friday at Fort Lewis, Allison Olsen and Megan Counts, who missed Friday with illness, left last night after a combined 7:21 of action while Kyra Tanabe and Kadyn Comer played just 3:19 combined.

Riley Shaw, who had played a total of 37-minutes in 8 games,  played 12:46 while Bria Delimont was on the court for 14:22 after totaling 59 minutes 7 games before Saturday.

The game goes into the books as a 2-0 win for Adams State with team and coaches win-loss records reflecting that outcome. Chadron State is now 5-10 overall and 3-8 in RMAC play. None of the statistics will count, either for individuals or the teams.
