CSC Women’s Wrestlers Sweep Home Triangular

The Chadron State College women’s wrestling team defeated Minot State and Adams State Sunday in the Chicoine Center, 29-19 and 41-8, respectively.
 
Brianna Vollendroff, Ana Rojas Zamora, Annika Lee, and Emma Meadows all went 2-0. Mana Chanthasone at 101 pounds and Kamila Montenegro at 190 also were each 2-0 but due to forfeits by their opponents.
 
Vollendroff, a sophomore from Oroville, California, defeated her opponent from Minot State with a 13-2 tech fall. She won her second match of the day against Adams State by way of fall in 4:37 at 109 pounds. Her tech fall occurred only 2:28 into the match.
 
At 123 pounds, Rojas Zamora’s victories came by way of two pins. The sophomore from Sweeny, Texas pinned her opponent from Minot State in 2:41 and was victorious against Adams State in 3:28.
 
Shania Wear went 1-1 for the Eagles at 130 pounds. Wear, a sophomore from Gothenburg, Nebraska used two four-point throws on her way to earning a 16-6 tech fall against the Grizzlies.
 
Lee, a freshman from Olympia, Washington won with two first period tech falls. Against Minot State, she won the 136-pound match 11-0 in 2:52 and was victorious with a 10-0 tech fall in 2:48 against Adams State.
 
At 143 pounds, Karstin Hollen finished 1-1. Hollen, a junior from Mesa, Arizona’s victory was a second round 12-2 tech fall against Adams.
 
Meadows, a freshman from Roseville, California, won by forfeit in her first dual of the day and was victorious with a 14-4 tech fall in her second dual.
 
For the first time this season, Chadron State had a wrestler fill the 170-pound weight class. Hattie Baldwin, a freshman from Pierre, South Dakota, went 1-1 after being pinned by Minot State and winning by forfeit against Adams State.
