Funeral services for 59-year old David Carson of North Platte, NE, are Thurs, Jan 26, 2023 at 10:00 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, NE, with Father Todd Philipsen officiating.

Rosary and wake is Wed, Jan 25, at 7:00 PM, also at St Patrick’s Catholic in Chadron.

David M Carson was born to Lyle G. and Barbara J. Carson in Chadron on July 2, 1963. He passed into eternity with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Tues, Jan 17, 2023 at the Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln.

David and his family lived in Whitney, NE, for a few years before moving to Chadron, where he attended the public school system and graduated from high school in 1981. David played high school football.

In 1983, he joined the Armed Services as an Army food service specialist at the Korean Demilitarized Zone. While there he received multiple awards including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Marksman Qualification Badge, and Army Good Conduct Medal.

Upon returning to the United States, David was trained as an electrician at Rapid City, SD, and further vocational training in avionic technology in Denver, CO. 

He worked at Scottsbluff, NE, for KMOR radio as an electronic technician, and was a trouble-shooter for pager systems before he began his main profession as a locomotive electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. He worked for the U-P for nearly 30 years, passing a few months short of retirement.

David was a Harley Davidson enthusiast – including joining the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota – and self-taught guitarist who loved hunting and playing cards. 

David was known for his grilled cuisine and had a gift for storytelling, oral and written. In 2006, his book “Cyber Angel” was published. 

David was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his siblings Sheryl Carson, Mary (Carson) Hindman (Del), Mike Carson (Sue), his nephews and nieces Micki Carson, Shawn Hindman (LeAnn), Tammy (Hindman) Robinson (Kenny), Alicia (Hindman) Wright (Scott), Tara (Hindman) Wilson (Terry.) His great-nephews and -nieces include Austin and Autumn Hindman, Joaquim, Shiloh, Acacia, and Shanika Robinson, Jordan and Hailey Wright, Connor and Riley Ann Wilson.
