A Celebration of Life will follow the Memorial services at noon at the VFW (Veteran’s of Foreign Wars) ~ 420 Main Street in Rapid City.

David “Dave” A. Cruz was born on July 10, 1979, in Rapid City, SD to Jose D. Cruz and Beatrice G. (Highwhiteman) Cruz. David passed away in his home in New Mexico on August 22, 2022.

David was more than a son, husband, father, brother, cousin, or friend. He was a handsome, loving, assertive, intelligent, strong and an exceptional human being.

David did everything in life with compassion and conviction. He was known for his beautiful smile and his laugh that carried in any room.

David will be missed terribly by his family. David was so young but was wise beyond his years here on earth. He was respected and looked up to by many.

David attended Stevens High School in Rapid City. Growing up, he excelled in baseball and played with the Post 22 league in Rapid City.

Out of high school, David married his high school sweetheart, Jenna, and they were blessed with 5 beautiful boys together. David was so proud to become a husband and a father. He doted on his family and loved them with every ounce of his being.

He was a firefighter at one point in his life and took great pride in helping people. He then went on and became a construction foreman for Cleary Building Corp, in Rapid City, and then a district manager for the New Mexico region.

Now he will be our guardian angel looking over us and guiding us until we can hug him again. Heaven gained another angel and there is a bright star added to the sky. He is now fishing and laughing with his brother and father in heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Jenna Cruz; his 5 boys; his mother, Beatrice G. Cruz; sisters, Rosalind Meno and Arlene Meno of Las Vegas, NV, Theresa A. Bush, Lisa Conklin, and Angelina Fey, all of Rapid City, SD; brothers, Joey Cruz, of Guam, Vincent Cruz, John B. Bush, John E. Cooper, and Russell Conklin all from Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jose D. Cruz; brother, Alan Cruz; grandparents, Edgar and Betty Highwhiteman; aunts, Pamela Cooper and Angelic Black Stone; and uncle, Zach Highwhiteman.

Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate David’s life.
