David Calvin Martin was born on January 18, 1961 in Pine Ridge, SD to Samuel Martin, Sr. and Madeline Living Outside and was raised by his uncle, Bud Sherman, as well as his aunt Evangeline Living Outside-Romney and uncle, Earl Charging Thunder in Red Shirt Table, SD. David made his journey to the Spirit World on June 11, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
David is survived by his children, Crystal (Daniel) Casquero of New York, NY, Sharon Ross of Rapid City, SD, Kyle Martin of California, Nicolas (Brittany) Bagola) Martin of Rapid City, SD, Nicole Martin of Rapid City, SD, Valerie Angel (Brandon Mesteth) of Rapid City, SD Terrence Bettelyoun of Las Vegas, NV, and Cameron Lafferty; significant other, Carla Kocer of Rapid City, SD; god-daughters, Kelley Swallow and Kara Bettelyoun; siblings, Manuel Martin of Colorado, Marilyn Martin of Rapid City, SD, Arlette Weasel Bear of Rapid City, SD, Beulah Matson of Rapid city, SD, Carmen Rooks-Vegas of Slim Buttes, SD, and Brittany Romey of Colorado; 23 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; aunt, Margaret Little Soldier-Belt; and numerous nieces & nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline and Samuel; siblings, Sam Martin, Jr., Fred Martin, Francis Martin, Virgil Martin, Darrell Martin, Chris Martin, Antoine Martin, Marlin Ten Fingers, Melvin Martin, Lema Martin, Jerilyn Martin, Carol Jean Ten Fingers, Donald Buffington, Sr. and Henrietta Crow; uncles, Bud Sherman and Earl Charging Thunder; paternal grandparents, Barry Martin and Bessie Kits; and maternal grandparents, Nat Living Outside, Sallie Arrow Wound-Living Outside.
