Dawes County Fair Opening With Clothing and Fashion Show

The Dawes County Fair begins its 9-day run today with the theme Tough Enough to Wear Pink.

Nebraska Extension 4-H Assistant Tessa Reece says pink should be a common color during the Fair.

Today’s start of the Dawes County Fair isn’t at the Fairgrounds on the north end of Chadron but at Chadron High School. Reece says that’s because all of today’s events deal with clothing or Consumer and Family Science.

While entry to the Dawes County Fair is free, there’s a $10 admission fee for adults for the 4 primary evening entertainment events

Those are hog wrestling Saturday night, the Ranch Rodeo Tuesday, Wednesday’s Tough Truck Competition, and the Rubber Check Race on Thursday.

Attending each and paying the fee at the gate costs $40, but a wristband covering all 4 costs just $20 and can be purchased at the Dawes County Extension Office at 250 Main Street or at the Fairgrounds.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, it’s a slow day with open class check-ins from 9-1:00 with judging at 2:00, the 4-H Cat Show at 8:30. and the Dog Show at 1:00
