The two-day Nebraska Boys Golf state tournaments began yesterday, but with one exception.

Bad weather canceled the opening round of the Class C tournament in Columbus, where Chadron is part of the field after finishing 3rd at Districts in Ogallala

       Instead of a 2-day, 36 hole tournament, Class C now has a one-day 18-hole tournament today.

The start of the Class D tournament in North Platte was delayed, but the round was completed. Overton leads Hitchcock County by 3 strokes 336-339. Hemingford is 5th at 351 and Kimball sits 9th after a 364.

Crawford’s Rhett Flack is competing as an individual and is tied for 40th after an opening round 17-over par 89. Tyson Essex of Loomis leads by 2 at 72.

The Class B tournament at the Scottsbluff Country Club avoided the bad weather problems. Norris has a 10-stroke lead over York at 311 with Scottsbluff 3rd another 2 strokes back. Carson Thurber of Norris has a 4-stroke lead after a 2-under 70.

Scottsbluff has 2 men in the top 10. Noah Shaddick is tied for 3rd at 75 and Thomas Dredla is tied for 6th at 77.
