Authorities in North Platte and Cheyenne are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found by Union Pacific workers inside a locomotive at the railroad’s Bailey Yard about 9:30 Sunday morning.
The body had no identification.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says that while the locomotive was in the yard, it had recently been towed in for repairs from Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Investigators say the body was wedged in a small generator room just behind the cab of the locomotive, and that it appeared the woman had recently passed away. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death and help identify her.
Anyone with knowledge of a missing woman from the North Platte or Cheyenne areas is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (308) 535-9599.
Probably another Nebraska suicide. That’s the scenario in cases that seem hard to solve.
You got that right. If you want to kill anyone and get away with it, do it in Buffalo County.
