Deadwood Casinos Ready For First Super Bowl With Legal Sports Betting

Loading

Sunday is the Super Bowl and Deadwood is expected to be hopping because of it.

This is the first year Deadwood has had sports wagering during the Super Bowl and the 5 casinos with sportsbooks are expecting a big day.

Deadwood Gaming Association Executive Director Mike Rodman says “There’s been lots of planning going on for a great party for the Super Bowl and I think it’ll be a great time for folks to come, enjoy the Super Bowl, and be able to bet.”

Rodman’s expectations increased even more in December when the sports bet rules were expanded to allow in-game betting.

The American Gaming Association is estimating a record 31.5-million Americans will bet on this year’s Super Bowl and will wager over $7.6-billion dollars.

Bettors range from casual wagers with friends or relatives, entries into office pools, wagers with licensed sportsbooks, and bets placed with illegal bookmakers.

States with a combined population of 45-million people – a group that includes South Dakota – have legalized sports betting since last year’s Super Bowl. Sports betting is now offered in 30 states plus Washington D-C.
