Deer Causes Fatal Motorcycle-SUV-Pedestrian Crash Northeast Of Hot Springs

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a woman was killed a little after 10:30 Saturday when she was hit by a SUV after her motorcycle collided with a deer about 12 miles northeast of Hot Springs on Hwy 79.

Names of the two people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.

The Highway Patrol says the 50-year old woman was southbound when she hit a deer that ran onto the roadway.

The woman was thrown from the bike into the southbound driving lane where she was hit by the SUV, which couldn’t avoid her.

She was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 70-year-old male driver of the SUV was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury.
