Funeral services for 33-year old Derek LaMont are Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Patricia LaMont residence, 4 miles east of Pine Ridge on Hwy 18, with Minister Seth Black Bear and Pastor Pedro Sharpfish officiating.
Burial services will be at the Chief Family Cemetery in Wolf Creek, SD
A one-night wake service starts Friday, August 28, at 2:00 PM, also at the Patricia LaMont residence
Derek Wade LaMont was born on October 9, 1986 in Pine Ridge, SD to Steven and Charity (Little Brave) LaMont. Derek made his journey to the Spirit World on August 21, 2020 at his home in Wolf Creek, SD.
Derek is survived by his father, Steven LaMont of Pine Ridge, SD; daughters, Taneesha & Aliannah LaMont both of Rapid City, SD; special friend, Shelia Plenty Arrows of Rapid City, SD; sisters, Stephanie (Raymond) Raygoza, Jamie (Jose) Rodriguez, Patricia (Erasmo) Rodriguez, Tiffney (Christopher) Walking Eagle, Stevian LaMont, Latonna (Stephon) Ross, Trina Lakota, and Destiny Janis all of Pine Ridge, SD, and Angel (King) Martinez of Rapid City, SD; brothers, Waylon (Natalie) LaMont, Sr. of Rockyford, SD; Anthony Merriam of Chicago, IL, Frank (Marie) Cottier of Sharps Corner, SD, Dwight (Tracy) Pawnee Leggins of Rapid City, SD, and Robert “Troy” Janis of Pine Ridge, SD; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandbabies.
Derek was preceded in death by his mother, Charity (Little Brave) LaMont; sister, Clarissa LaMont; brother, Joseph Rodriguez; grandparents, Norman & Florence (Yellow Boy) Little Brave; and paternal grandparents, Vincent and Josephine LaMont.
