Donald David Standing Soldier, Sr. was born on April 29, 1969 in Pine Ridge, SD to Donnie Bordeaux and Florence Rose Standing Soldier. Donald made his journey to the Spirit World on January 23, 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Donald lived a full life, he attended school in Pine Ridge, SD and he loved doing outdoor things like fishing, working on cars, and he always loved spending time with his family & friends. Donald moved to Fort Thompson, SD where he met his wife, Darla Rabbit. Donald worked at many places in Fort Thompson, the Lode Star Casino, Fort Thompson I.H.S., The Swift Lodge, Crow Creek Pathfinder, and Crow Creek Boys Dorm. Donald met his lifelong friends, Ronald Morrison, Melby Kirkie, Charlie Long Crow, Rudy, Tony, & Babe Gonzales while working in Fort Thompson.
Grateful for sharing his life are his daughter, LaCosta Standing Soldier of Fort Thompson, SD; sons, Dominick and Dalton Standing Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD; grandchildren, Gage Standing Soldier, Alaina Mound, Darliss & Dontae Standing Soldier, and Donrie Ross all of Fort Thompson, SD; sisters, Bonne โBaby Dollโ Ghost Dog, Josephine Standing Soldier, Brenda Mesteth, and Joy Means; brothers, Phillip, Darrell, & Walter Standing Soldier all of Pine Ridge, SD; hunka mother, Belva Mesteth; special friend, Nellie Lakota; cousin, Troylyn Bordeaux, Mike & John Bordeaux, Ken & Ben Bordeaux; aunt, Louis Bordeaux of Rosebud, SD; and many nieces & nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his son, Donald, Jr; father, Donald โDonnieโ Bordeaux; mother, Florence Standing Soldier; sisters, Gina Standing Soldier and Gayla Spotted Bear; brother, Ivan โPugโ, Kenneth, & Alan Standing Soldier; and wife, Tanya Standing Soldier.
Pallbearers will be Arlen Rowland, Tyler Rowland, Verdell Mesteth, Daniel Crow, Jerry Bordeaux, Eddie Standing Soldier, Darrell Standing Soldier, and Duane Ghost Dog.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 4:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
