A Mass of Christian Burial for 85-year old Donna Lanckriet, long-time resident of Ogallala, NE, will be held Friday, Nov 3, 2023, at 1:00 at St Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest as Celebrant.
It will be livestreamed at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com
Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Julesburg, CO.
Visitation is Thurs, Nov 2, from 2:00 to 6:00 at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
A memorial has been established in Donna’s memory, with specific details to be designated at a later date.

Donna Elaine Lanckriet was born March 16, 1938, in Hemingford, NE, and passed away at Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron, NE, on October 26, 2023.
Donna was the daughter of Lloyd and Lela (Bowser) Appleyard, and graduated from Hemingford High School.
She continued her education at Chadron State College, where she earned a degree in Science, but not before devoting 11 years to teaching in rural schools east of Hemingford.
With her degree, Donna then moved to Ogallala, where she served as a first-grade teacher from the fall of 1969 until her retirement in 1998. She married Clarence ‘Jerry’ Lanckriet in 1973.
An avid nature enthusiast, Donna enjoyed gardening and birdwatching, with a particular fondness for Cardinals.
A longtime member of the Catholic Church, she also served on various committees for the Ogallala Education Association.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry; and brother Gene Appleyard.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Bonnie Appleyard of Alliance, NE; nieces and nephews Debbie & Randy Dorenbach, Brenda & Mario Flores, Cheri & JC Gasseling, Pam & Jared Letcher, and Cory Appleyard & Cristy Finley; and numerous great-and great-great-nieces and nephews.
