Dorothy (Dot) Philipsen age 83 of Scottsbluff, NE died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at
Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Dorothy Philipsen was born
March 6, 1941, in Appleton, WI to William and Esther (Waldvogel) Metko.
Dorothy graduated from Appleton North High School with the class of 1959.
She met Kenneth Philipsen while working at the J.C. Penney Store in Appleton.
Ken and Dot were married at St Therese Catholic Church in Appleton, WI on
October 1, 1960.
To this union was born 3 Children. Todd, Kellie, and Tim.
The Philipsen family moved several times with the J.C. Penney Company.
The family eventually settled in Chadron, NE, and Ogallala, NE.
Ken opened an American Family Insurance Agency in Ogallala in 1986.
Dot would join Ken in the Agency as a licensed insurance agent.
They retired in 2004 and enjoyed travels both in Europe and the United States.
They enjoyed being Winter Texans and cherished many friendships with folks
they spent time with in South Padre Island.
In recent years Ken and Dot moved to Scottsbluff, NE where their circle of friends
widened.
Dot was a woman of faith and valued the friendships she made in Catholic Bible Studies, Volunteering for funeral dinners, and especially reading to the Catholic School Kids at St.
Agnes School in Scottsbluff and St. Luke’s School in Ogallala.
Dot loved to play cards and valued the friendships she made in Bridge and Pinochle Clubs.
She was a member of PEO.
Those left to cherish her memory include Ken her husband of 64 years; Son Fr. Todd Philipsen
of Chadron, NE.; Daughter Kellie (Roger) Witcofski of Gering NE.; Daughter-in-Law Julie Philipsen of Erie, Colorado; five grandchildren, Kenny Witcofski, Allison Witcofski, Abby Philipsen, Katie Philipsen, and Lizzie Philipsen; sister Carol Brown of Lewiston, Idaho; One brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Tim; her parents; brother Richard In-laws George and Ann Philipsen; and four brothers-in-law Alan Philipsen, Dick Meyer, Tony VanKrey, and George Brown.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel.
Christian Wake Service will be on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 6:00 P.M. from St Lukeโs Catholic Church
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. from St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala.
