Graveside services for 82-year old Douglas Janis are Wed, December 29, 2021 at noon at the Janis family homestead at Sharp’s Corner, SD, with Pastor Matt Hadden officiating.
A meal will follow at the Sharps Corner Baptist Church in Sharps Corner, SD
Preceding the services will be a procession from the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD, to Doug’s home. It begins at 11:00.
Douglas Janis was born on November 7, 1939 in Pine Ridge, SD to Raymond Janis and Diamond (Westover) Janis. Douglas made his journey to the Spirit World on December 21, 2021 at his home in Sharp’s Corner, SD.
Douglas is survived by his children, Dawn Marie Janis, Shawnna L. Janis, Shalane L. (Rodney) Janis, Victor D. Janis, Olin D. Janis, Calvin W. (Alana Romero) Janis, Payton J. Janis, and Wendyll Smoke; 18 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Diamond Janis; son, Doug Janis, Jr.; sisters, Mercy Provost and Ellen Engelhart; brothers, Victor Janis and Donald Janis; and grandchildren, Paris Jayne Janis and Niko Jay Janis.
Honorary pallbearers will be All The Family and Friends of Doug Janis, we appreciate everyone who was a part of his life, you are not forgotten in our time of grief.
