The driver of a semi pulling a load of round hay bales escaped serious injuries just before 8:00 Friday morning when he apparently forgot the BNSF railroad line in the Panhandle is multi-track.

KNEB News reports that the driver had stopped for an eastbound train at a crossing on Scotts Bluff County Road 9, south of Hwy 26 and just east of Morrill.

When the train passed, the driver pulled out – only to be hit by a westbound train on the second set of tracks.

The train struck the semi in the trailer and pushed both the tractor and trailer several hundred feet before coming to rest. The truck driver suffered only minor injuries.

The County Road 9 crossing does not have arms or lights, but the sign does warn that there are two tracks.
