In a release from the Chadron Police Department, they stated that on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at approximately 11:12p.m., K9 Officer Orsborn observed a vehicle traveling near Third Street and Maple Street with a headlight that was out. Officer Orsborn conducted a traffic stop and observed indicators of impairment coming from the driver.
Officer Orsborn conducted a DUI Investigation and the driver was subsequently arrested for
driving under the influence. Incident to arrest, the driver was searched and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine was located on her person.
Officer Orsborn deployed his K9 partner, Sukey to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. Sukey alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. As a result of the traffic stop, approximately 1.2 grams of suspected cocaine was seized in addition to the suspected methamphetamine found on the driver. Sergeant Young conducted a drug recognition expert evaluation on the driver subsequent to her arrest.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Jessica Cash was arrested on requested charges of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, in violation of NRS 60-6, 196, a Class W Misdemeanor and Possession of a Controlled Substance, in violation of NRS 28-416, a Class IV Felony. Cash is being held at the Dawes County Jail and bond has been set at 10% of $10,000.
