The Chadron State College track team had eight different athletes named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field All-Conference teams.

Kyla Sawvell, a senior from Wall, S.D., led the group by being named first team in both the weight throw and shot put.

Last weekend, Sawvell placed fifth in the weight throw and third in shot put at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. She earned All-American honors for both events.

Joining Sawvell on the Women’s First Team was Jourdaine Cerenil in high jump. Cerenil, a sophomore from Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, finished third at the RMAC Indoor Championships after clearing 1.69m.

Carlie Collier earned second team honors in the 200m dash. The senior from Dunning finished sixth at the conference championships with a time of 25.73.

Also earning second team honors on the women’s side for CSC was Courtney Smith, a junior from Rock Springs, Wyoming. Smith, who earned honors in the hammer throw, had a fifth-place finish at the indoor championships, throwing 17.56m.

Chadron State was led by Osvaldo Cano and Daniel Reynolds on the men’s side. Both earned first-team honors.

Cano, a junior from Oshkosh, finished third in the 400M Dash at the conference championships with a time of 49.12.

Reynolds, who just placed fifth in the nation and earned All-American honors in the weight throw, won the event at the conference championships with a hurl of 19.31m.

On the men’s second team was Creighton Trembly in the 60m hurdles and Harley Rhoades in the Heptathlon.

Trembly, a sophomore from Longmont, Colorado, finished fourth with a time of 8.05 at the conference championships.
Â
With 4712 points, Rhoades, a senior from Douglas, Wyoming, finished fifth in the heptathlon.

CSC’s indoor track season concluded last weekend at nationals. The Outdoor season begins this weekend for Chadron State.
