Chadron State College Head Men’s Wrestling Coach Brett Hunter announced on Thursday his 2022 recruiting class.

Eighteen new wrestlers, from nine different states, are set to join the program this fall. They project to compete in nine different weight classes.

Two lightweights are expected to wrestle at 125 pounds. They are Nathaniel Boreen, of Riverside, Wyoming, and Cooper Cohee of Napa, California. Boreen was a two-time state champ, while Cohee won his conference tournament three times.

At 133, Logan Bryce of Raymond, Nebraska, is the lone recruit in his weight class. He was a four-time state qualifier and placed three times in Class C.

Quentrevion Campbell, of Tifton, Georgia, and Cyrus Wells, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, are the newcomers at 141 pounds. Campbell is a transfer from North Iowa Area Community College, where he was an honorable mention All-American in 2022. Wells was the 2022 Class B state champ and placed three times at state tournaments.

Hunter will bring in three to compete at 149 pounds. From Omaha’s Skutt Catholic comes Adam Kruse, the 2022 Class B champion and a two-time placer. Mesa, Arizona’s Brandon Paredes was the 2021 state champ and placed four times at state. Tayton Ricard, of Blakesburg, Iowa, is a transfer from Indian Hills Community College, where he helped his team to two eighth-place finishes at nationals.

Colton Gehlhausen, of Pinedale, Wyoming, and Dylan White, of Scottsdale, Arizona, join the program at 157 pounds. Gehlhausen, whose brother Keegan was a freshman for the CSC squad in 2021-22, has two state titles and four placings in his home state. White was a sectional champ his senior year, and qualified for state, finishing his season 33-9.

CSC adds three new faces at 165 pounds. From Hartsville, South Carolina, comes Logan Berger, a three-time state champion and a placewinner all four years. Wyatt Madole, a teammate of the Gehlhausen brothers at Pinedale, placed twice at state. Pepper Rhyne is another two-time placer from Craig, Colorado.

At 184 pounds, the sole freshman will be Hayden Burr, of Fleming, Colorado. He is a three-time state placer who won the state title in 2022.

A pair of 197-pounders are set to join the team. They are Morgen Watt of Broomfield, Colorado, and Jackson Tonkovich of Batavia, Illinois. Watt is the younger brother of Second Team All-RMAC heavyweight Mason Watt, who will be a senior, and has two state placings to his name in Colorado Class 4A. Tonkovich is a 2021 state placer and two-time state qualifier in one of the top wrestling states.

Finally, CSC will welcome two heavyweights to compete this fall, both from Arizona. They are Nate Meza of Mesa and Jack Saron of Phoenix. The pair met in the state semifinals in 2022, where Meza went on to a runner-up finish and Saron was fourth. Meza has two placings under his belt, while Saron placed three times at state.

“We’re excited to welcome a great group of talented young men to Chadron,” said Hunter. “We have a great returning squad that this class will improve on. We have high expectations for this group as they join our Eagle family.”
