Funeral services for 57-year old Eldon Dale Forney are Tues, Nov 29, 2022 at 10:00 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz, Father Edmund Yainao, SJ, & Ms Joyce Tibbitts officiating and traditional Lakota services by Paul Forney and Wakinyan Forney.
Burial is at the Johnson Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD.
A three-night wake service begins Saturday, Nov 26, at 2:30 with the first two nights at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD. Vigil and Rosary services will be there Sunday at 7:00.
The third night starts Monday at 1:30 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Eldon Dale Forney “Wapaha” was born on March 25, 1965 in Martin, SD, to Darold Forney and Sara (Hawk) Forney. Eldon made his journey to the Spirit World on November 18, 2022 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Eldon is survived by his wife Alva Forney; daughter Ashley (Colton) Forney; son Bradley Forney; hunka daughters Sammie Romero, Jessie Romero, Terry Lynn Poor Bear, Katherine Bury, Michelle Lau, Jalaine Kimball, and Tess Chase In Sight; hunka sons Mitchell Hollow Horn and Chayton Hollow Horn; father, Darold Forney; siblings Tom (Lou) Patton, Donald Patton, Sandra (Scott Murray) Mabin, MaDonna (Michael) Shepherd, Cheryl (Archie) Two Eagle; Mitzi (Coy) Big Crow, Paul (Missie) Forney, Tonya (Clarence) Broken Rope, Irene (Raymond) Sound Sleeper, and Angie Mabin; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his mother Sara Elizabeth (Hawk) Forney; brothers, Owen Patton Jr and Troy Dean Mabin; sister Christian Patton; grandparents Talton & Jenny (Hat) Hawk, Rudolph & Maxine (Rowland) Forney, Dale Mabin and Irene DuBray.
