Funeral services for 24-year old Elliot Yellow Hair Jr are Tues, Feb 7, 2023 at 11:00 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz and Ms Joyce Tibbitts officiating and all spiritual leaders welcome for traditional Lakota services.
Burial is at the New Holy Family Cemetery in Grass Creek-Oglala, SD
A two-night wake service starts Sunday, Feb 5, at 2:00 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with evening services at 7:00 each night.

Elliot Lynn Yellow Hair Jr was born on February 15th, 1998 in Pine Ridge, SD to Elliot L Yellow Hair Sr and Dina (Eagle Hawk) Jealous of Him. Elliot Jr made his journey to the Spirit World on January 21, 2023 in Rapid City, SD.
Raised by his paternal grandmother Dianne Iron Bird and his Papa Ben Smith, Elliot Jr attended Wolf Creek Elementary School, where he pursued football and basketball.
He was also an avid boxer and horseback rider. He participated in school wačípis as a grass dancer, where he learned traditional, contemporary, and modern powwow songs.
He grew up attending inípi’s, where he learned to sing traditional songs, eventually followed the path of his grandparents and became a sundancer and pipe carrier.
In recent years, Elliot Jr was a singer, an activist against uranium mining who stood in support with the land back movement, and a water protector against the Dakota Access Pipeline. He traveled across the United States and sang for many organizations, schools, Wiwáŋyaŋg Wačípis, and Wačípis.
Elliot Jr is survived by his children: daughter Alyssia Love and son Elliot Elias; parents Dina (Eagle Hawk) Jealous of Him and Elliot L Yellow Hair Sr; grandparents Dianne Iron Bird, Ben Smith, Debora Stewart, and Rydell Eagle Hawk Sr; siblings Maygen Lafford, Jodi Eagle Hawk, Lionel Yellow Hair, Dakota Yellow Hair, Tokahe Mani Yellow Hair, Kamarae Jealous of Him, Kadence Goode, Everett Jealous of Him III, Vine Jealous of Him; many cousins, uncles, aunties; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elliot Jr was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer Yellow Hair Sr, Leo Yellow Hair, Elmarie (Two Lance) Yellow Hair, Keva (Ghost) New Holy, Ambrose New Holy Sr, Edith Sophie Fights Over, Christopher Emmet Eagle Hawk, Dorthy Brings Him Back, and Estes Stewart Jr; uncle Gerald “Pawnee” Smith; and nephews Benton Jameis Ten Fingers, and Kira Rey Yellow Hair.
Pallbearers will be Scott Pruyn, Katie New Holy, Wesley New Holy Jr., Emmet Kelly, Rowdy Iron Horse, Tim Bores A Hole, LaDainian Mesteth, Garrett Bene, Carlos Basaldua, and Donovan Good Shield.
