Viewing precedes the services from noon till 3:00 at the Body of Christ Church in Porcupine.
Ernest White Eagle was born on January 6, 1950 to Cleveland Tail and Angeline Fire Place in Pine Ridge, SD. Ernest made his journey to the Spirit World on October 27, 2020 at his home in Evergreen Community near Porcupine, SD.
Ernest attended several colleges and had many jobs. He loved working with children when he was a Head Start teacher/assistant. He was also a security guard and police officer for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and retired from the Pine Ridge School Boys Dorm.
Ernest was also a minister for Our Body of Jesus Christ Church east of Porcupine, Batesland, and Chadron. He also worked as a bus driver for P.S Bennett County Public School.
Ernest loved to multi-task wherever needed. Most of all he loved all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ernest also coached basketball.
Ernest is survived by his brother, Willard Black Cat; children, Ruby Tail of Rapid City, SD, Latrell Sierra of Kyle, SD, Randy Tail of Washington D.C., Raelene (Lloyd) Bianas of Batesland, SD, Elton Tail of Potato Creek, SD, Loren Tail of Porcupine, SD, Erlene Tail of Batesland, SD, Bobby Sierra of Washington D.C., Melanie Stoneman of Porcupine, SD, and Aleron White Eagle of Rapid City, SD; 30 plus grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland C. Tail and Angeline Fire Place; son, Shawn Leckey; brother, Manuel Tail; 5 great grandchildren; and nieces, Shannon Tayle and Keisha Tayle.
Pallbearers will be Griffin Cross, Gunnar Cross, Wanbli Ska Sierra, Latrell Tayle, Sr., Terrell Tayle, Sr., Ranzle Lays Bad, Jamiah Bianas, and Tristen Tail, Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Family & Friends, and All Porcupine Community Members.
