Celebration of life services for 100-year old long-time Hemingford, NE, resident Evelyn Vorovka of Overbrook, KS, are Sat, Oct. 28, 2023, at 1:00 at the Brookside Community Center in Overbrook.

Evelyn Lucille Vorovka was born June 6, 1923, in Crawford, NE, the daughter of Richard Lange and Mildred (McMasters) Lange. She passed away Oct. 4, 2023, at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook.
Evelyn grew up in western Nebraska, graduating from Hemingford High School with the class of 1943. Later in life, she would go on and attend Chadron State College for 3 years, taking several art classes and a few general education classes.
Evelyn was united in marriage to George Vorovka on June 29, 1945 in Hemingford. They left the next day for Pensacola, Fla, where George was a naval aviator and flight instructor during World War II.
After the war, they farmed west of Hemingford and shared more than 71 wonderful years together until George passed away in 2017.
Evelyn was a lifelong homemaker and loved caring for her family. She took great care and pride in her cooking and her family was always excited to sit down together and enjoy her meals.
She also spent many years working at home as an artist. She entered several art shows over her life and was very proud of the numerous ribbons she received for her work.
She sold many pieces of her work over time and was very skilled at her craft. One of her favorite aspects of art was her years volunteering as an art instructor for children and older adults.
Evelyn is survived her son David Vorovka and his good friend Randy Stejskal of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter Cheri Thompson and her husband Mike of Lawrence, Kan; and grandsons Tony Thompson and his wife Michelle of Kansas City, Mo, and Tim Thompson and his wife Rachel of Lenexa, Kan.
