Fatality Following Morning Crash in Gering

UPDATE – The Nebraska State Patrol has released the identity of an 18 year old who was killed in an early morning motor vehicle accident Monday morning. KNEB news reported, “The Nebraska State Patrol says that 18-year-old James Jackson Jr. of Gering succumbed to injuries as the result of a two-vehicle collision in Gering on Kimball Avenue near 10th Street shortly before 8 a.m.

NSP Spokesman Cody Thomas says the preliminary investigation found a northbound Ford Ranger pickup driven by Jackson was struck from behind by a Ram 2500 pickup driven by 44-year-old Gideon Brunner of rural Gering.

Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Brunner was taken to Regional West with serious injuries after being ejected from his vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation and the NSP is conducting a full crash reconstruction.”

KNEB News reported this morning stating authorities say one person died from injuries received in a crash this morning in the southern part of Gering.

Preliminary yet-to-be confirmed information indicated the crash took place around 7:50 a.m. with first responders called to the 800 block of 10th Street for what was called a truck versus vehicle collision, with one of the vehicles catching fire.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas confirms one person was killed as a result of the crash, and more details will be released as the NSP concludes their investigation.
