Father Arrested In Calif, Charged With Deaths Of 2 Children Found Dead In His Omaha-Area Home

Police in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue say the father of two young children found dead in his home on Sunday morning has been charged with their deaths

35-year-old Adam Price was taken into custody Sunday evening near San Francisco in Pacifica, Calif, on a felony fugitive arrest warrant for 2 counts of child abuse resulting in death. He is scheduled for an extradition hearing today.

Authorities aren’t saying how 5-year-old Emily Price and 3-year-old Theodore Price died. Their mother, Mary Nielsen, lives in Illinois and says the kids were at Price’s home for court-ordered visitation with their father.

Nielsen contacted police Saturday night and asked for a welfare check because she hadn’t heard from the children for several days.

She called back again Sunday morning about 9:00, saying she still hadn’t heard from then as required under the custody order.

Bellevue Police Captain Andy Jashinske says officers went to Price’s house both times to no response and didn’t see anything to give them grounds to force entry into the home without a search warrant.

The bodies of the children were found later Sunday morning by a friend of their mother who’d gone over to check on them for her.

Captain Jashinske says a license plate reader in Reno identified Price’s car heading west sometime after Friday night, which helped lead to his eventual arrest Sunday night in California.
